At just 16 years old, Olga Horak was torn from her home and sent to Auschwitz. In this powerful short film, Olga recounts her Holocaust survival story — from the Nazi occupation of Slovakia to forced labour, selections by Dr. Josef Mengele, and enduring the death march to Bergen-Belsen.
Olga speaks with striking honesty about the brutality she faced — from the cruelty of SS guards to the freezing work conditions and devastating separation from her family. She survived against all odds.
After the war, Olga migrated to Australia and became a prominent voice in Sydney’s Jewish community, dedicating her life to Holocaust education and remembrance. Her testimony stands as a lasting reminder of the trauma endured, the resilience of the human spirit, and the importance of never forgetting.
Produced for the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies Holocaust Remembrance event by AD Media.
Directed and produced by Sarita Gold.
