In the swinging ’60s and the groovy ’70s, Bob Booker unleashed a series of legendary comedy albums that skyrocketed to the top of the charts, attracting devoted fans from all walks of life, be they Jewish or Gentile.
Generations have cherished the timeless sketches from these albums, including the uproarious A Call from Long Island, the side-splitting The Reading of the Will, and the unforgettable The Plotnik Diamond.
Now, Emanuel Synagogue and Bondi Theatre Company are proud to present the highlights from the Australian stage premiere of Bob Booker's classic work, staged at Emanuel Synagogue in the beautifully restored Heritage Sanctuary.
Even at the age of 91, Bob Booker himself attests to the enduring popularity of this comedy masterpiece, noting that "funny is funny." He adds, "It was the heart and soul that other humour does not necessarily have, because the people behind it have the heart and soul and the gift of humour.
