ABOUT MICHAEL RANTISSI
Born in Tel Aviv Israel, Michael Rantissi fondly recalls his earliest culinary education alongside his mother in the family kitchen. Ignited with a passion for food, Michael set his sights on a culinary career studying in Israel, New York and Paris. Arriving in Australia in 2005 Michael’s first job here was at the iconic Bathers’ Pavilion where he met partner Kristy Frawley. Michael is the Chef and Co-Owner of the award winning Kepos Street Kitchen in Redfern as well as Kepos Catering and the latest venture, Salma’s Canteen in Rosebery. Kepos Street Kitchen also has a weekly stand at Carriageworks Farmers Markets. With partner Kristy they have written several cookbooks – Falafel for Breakfast, Hummus & Co and Middle Eastern Feasts, released in December 2024. Their latest cookbook, Salata, will be published in 2025.
