This exhibition is reconstruction of work of abstract, conceptual, contemporary language of art. Magdalena came to Australia in 1949, spending her first formative years in a notorious camp in Austria. On arriving in Australia, she was transported to another camp where she stayed till the end of 1952. Not having a voice was ultimately the only way of surviving and staying safe. This lifelong coping mechanism caused almost irretrievable damage, prolonged fear of not giving voice to the unacceptable behaviour.
She was encouraged to study with clay, opening up a dialog to trauma, as art has its own language of communication. Her sculptures were an artform of her voice that reflected her internal trauma. As she cradled her sculptures, she learnt to trust and speak with them. She created a folder that documented all of her images of her sculptures, poetry, drawings and writings. These were made into 5 books, one if the books is in Yad Vashem.
