At just six years old, Richard Haber escaped the Warsaw Ghetto. In this moving short documentary produced by AD Media for the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, Richard recounts his harrowing Holocaust experiences — including being marched to Auschwitz — and the power of memory decades later.
He shares an emotional moment when, on a return tour of the ghetto, he corrected the historical record in front of a tour group. At 82, he was also invited to read the Torah during the March of the Living in Poland — an act of survival and remembrance that resonates across generations.
This short film explores the enduring importance of Holocaust education, memorialisation, and the role of testimony in confronting hatred and preserving truth.
Produced for the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies Holocaust Remembrance event by AD Media.
Directed and produced by Sarita Gold.
Director of Photography and Editor: Agostino Marcello.
