MADRE
Poems by Jessica Chapnik Kahn | Music by Anna Hirst Friedman
Born from the tender, transformative moments of early motherhood, MADRE is a poetic and musical meditation on what it means to become a mother.
Jessica Chapnik Kahn wrote the original poems in the quiet hours after her son’s birth, capturing the raw, intimate unfolding of maternal identity. Years later, composer Anna Hirst Friedman responded to these words with stirring choral compositions, performed by a six-voice ensemble.
The result is a hauntingly beautiful fusion of poetry and music that elevates the sacred and mysterious journey of motherhood.
